This shows the current jail and color codes the different renovations that have been done to the jail facility. The last renovation ( the blue area in the picture) was completed in 2006 and cost $10 million. That renovation doubled the capacity of the jail.

Illustration #2 shows the different levels of the jail and the City-County Government Center (the green). The courts are located on the second floor of the City-County Government Center. Defendants are taken from the jail to the courts through a series of halls. Again, the blue shows the area that was added in the last renovation.

This illustration shows the proposed design of the Scott Rd (this is next to the County Hwy Department on Hickory Rd) “Justice Center.” Each of the orange areas is a jail “pod.” A pod contains 150 beds. The facility would be 413,000 square feet.
